How to Avoid a Frozen Fido

The weather is finally starting to turn chilly! You know that you have to keep your Peak City Puppy protected from the sun in the summer, but you also need to ensure that your dog doesn’t become too cold in the fall and winter. While sweaters and pet booties can be helpful, your dog can still get too cold very quickly.

When you’re walking your Peak City Puppy on cold winter days, or they’re having fun out back, watch for:

• Shivering
• Slowed breathing
• Muscle stiffness
• Lethargy

If you notice any of these signs, go inside immediately. Use the following to bring your pup’s temperature up until normal behavior is restored:

• Warm water bottles
• Hair dryers
• Heated blankets

If the situation appears to be more serious, contact your vet ASAP.

Try and keep walks short on extra cold days and make sure your Peak City Puppy stays comfortable and warm all winter long!
